Asbestos Analysis

Asbestos analysis is a type of analysis required under the Regulation on Health and Safety Measures in Working with Asbestos.

Asbestos derivatives known to be carcinogenic and banned for use and production; should be removed from the environment with experts. Asbestos analysis is required during these stages.

Asbestos analysis is commonly done in two ways: determination of asbestos in solid samples, measurement of suspended asbestos fiber in the environment.

Asbestos Type Determination in Solid Sample:

The presence of asbestos is examined, it is a type of analysis performed for detection purposes. The 6 most commonly known asbestos species (chrysotile, crocidolite, amosite, anthophyllite, tremolite and actinolite) are observed. Results are given as present or absent.

It is the type of asbestos analysis required for the asbestos inventory report, which is required especially within the scope of urban transformation. Samples are taken in the presence of asbestos removal experts or laboratory personnel authorized by İSGÜM. Asbestos analysis is performed in accordance with NIOSH-NMAM 9002 standard. AEM Laboratory is an organization authorized by İSGÜM and accredited by Türkak for asbestos species determination in solid samples.

Determination of Airborne Fibrous Dust Concentration:

Suspended asbestos fiber, unlike solid samples, is a measurement that should only be taken by laboratory personnel authorized by İSGÜM. It involves sampling of volatile asbestos fibers as personal and workplace environment. The sampled sample is analyzed in the laboratory in accordance with the NIOSH 7400 standard. The result is given as concentration.

Asbestos fiber counting is a type of asbestos measurement and analysis commonly requested during asbestos removal operations. Reports of laboratories authorized by ISGUM are valid. AEM Laboratory can actively perform measurement and analysis in accordance with the NIOSH-NMAM 7400 standard. It has TÜRKAK accreditation and İSGÜM qualification from the same standard.
