Analysis of Fish Farms

Fish farm analysis is an analysis carried out to control fish farms established in the seas and to prevent environmental pollution and eutrophication. Analyses under the Regulation on Environmental Management of Fish Farms Operating in the Seas are required by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.

Within the scope of monitoring fish farms, fish farms are obliged to carry out measurements and analyzes and report the results of the analysis within the framework of the procedures and principles set out in the Regulation. In order to determine the effects of fish farms on the marine environment in detail and to monitor the change over time, it is necessary to carry out annual monitoring studies in the water column and sediment within the parameters specified in Annex-6 of the Regulation and submit them to the relevant Provincial Directorate.

Fish farms shall have the water column monitoring studies specified in Annex-6 of the Regulation carried out in May every year and sediment monitoring studies carried out in May every two years. Newly established fish farms are obliged to have all measurements and studies specified in Annex-6 carried out in May before starting operations. The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change may change the number and location of sampling points and the parameters to be analyzed if deemed necessary.

Fish farm samples are taken from a total of 7 different points, 50 m from the four sides of the farm, 100 m and 200 m downstream, and at least 500 m upstream as a reference. Water column samples are taken from two different depths, surface and bottom, and fish farm analysis is performed separately.

The reports of the laboratories authorized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change are valid for fish farm analysis. AEM Laboratory is an organization authorized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and accredited by Türkak for fish farm analysis with its expert staff, technical facilities and quality service.
