Environmental Laboratory

Environmental laboratory is the name given to private or public laboratories authorized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change under the Regulation on the Competence of Environmental Measurement and Analysis Laboratories. During the permit, license, internal monitoring and inspection activities of the Ministry; the environmental laboratory, which provides sampling, measurement and analysis services, is the authorized institution and organization in the field.

As an environmental laboratory, accreditation is required under TS EN ISO/IEC 17025, General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. In Turkey, TURKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency) accreditation is valid.

With MELBES (Central Laboratory Determination System), which entered into force in 2019, sampling, measurement and analysis services within the scope of environmental legislation were connected to central assignment. Requests are opened through the system and in line with these requests, it is determined which laboratory the enterprises will work with. With this system, the right of enterprises to choose a laboratory for environmental legislation measurement and analysis procedures has been eliminated. It is obligatory to work with the assigned laboratory unless there is an objective problem. It was decided to create an inventory with the process and to open environmental laboratories in line with the needs of those who want to open new environmental laboratories. The increase in the capacity of existing environmental laboratories was also restricted by a similar condition.

As environmental laboratories; there are large and small laboratories operating in matrices such as treatment sludge analysis, waste analysis, waste water analysis, waste oil analysis, flue gas measurement, ballast water analysis, fish farm analysis, biota analysis, flow measurement, seawater analysis, noise measurement, air quality modeling, air quality measurement, odor measurement, microbiology analysis, sampling procedures, sediment analysis, continuous emission measurement systems measurement (seös), water analysis, vibration measurement, soil analysis, fuel analysis.

AEM Laboratory first started its activities by obtaining environmental laboratory authorization and is one of the first and pioneering laboratories in this field in Turkey.
